The Roarkitect?
Welcome to The Roarkitect. If you’ve known me over the years, you’ve probably noticed that I have penned several names and aliases for different blog-type projects. I usually don’t do much with them beyond starting them. Actually that’s not totally true. Back in the early 2000’s all the way through college (~2010), I was pretty consistent with producing blog-type content. Was it good? Not really. It was mostly nonsense and no longer exists. But it was fun. I’ve always enjoyed writing and sharing information, thoughts, music, ideas, and little stories (both real and fictional). It was fun.
I guess it was after 2010 when I started transitioning to ‘serious’ projects. Maybe that’s when I started thinking about my career (super serious stuff) and also when Instagram and other apps became things that kind of started replacing blogs. As well as influencers and Youtube people who make ‘expert’ content. That kind of content seemed more meaningful and less like a waste of time. It wasn’t just nonsense—it helped people learn things. It helped me learn things. I wanted to do it too. But I wasn’t an expert on anything, so I guess that’s why I’ve never really done much after starting a project. Imposter syndrome. Plus it wasn’t fun—especially when I was constantly comparing myself to really polished pros with amazing gear, setups, intro animations, merch etc.
Something along those lines.
But I’m a registered architect now. So now I’m an expert, right?
Nah. I still don’t know much of anything. And that’s fine. The truth is, I just want to have fun again. In an age where people are using AI (myself included, sometimes) to write more and more, for some reason, I find myself with an itch to write from my brain—however bad that may be. It’s a fun muscle to exercise.
So here I am. The Roarkitect. I’m here to learn, here to share what I do know, and to have some fun as well. I don’t really know what I’ll be talking about just yet. But I’m a father of two who lives in South Carolina, works in Florida as an architect, loves technology, scrolls X and Instagram way too much, and watches a ton of hockey. So it’ll probably be related to those things.
I invite you to follow me on socials and check back here from time-to-time. I don’t anticipate making too much ‘polished’ content; but I can promise it’ll be real, authentic, and written by a guy.
